The Prenatal Care Schedule is a structured template designed to assist expectant mothers in keeping track of their appointments with obstetricians/gynecologists from the commencement of pregnancy until the birth of the child. It is imperative for a woman to undergo regular checkups at predetermined intervals throughout the gestational period.
What is Prenatal Care?
Prenatal care encompasses the medical attention and monitoring provided to an expectant mother from the time of conception until the delivery of the infant. It involves routine examinations, ultrasound scans (sonography), weight monitoring, abdominal measurements, and other essential assessments.
Thus, the comprehensive care received by a woman during pregnancy, leading up to the birth of the baby, is collectively referred to as prenatal care.

For a healthy pregnancy, obstetricians/gynecologists typically recommend the following schedule of prenatal visits:
- One prenatal visit per month from Week 4 to Week 28,
- One prenatal visit every two weeks from Week 28 to Week 36
- One prenatal visit every week from Week 36 to Week 40
This recommended schedule of visits has been preprogrammed into the template.
As mentioned earlier, in the event of any complications, the schedule can be manually edited to accommodate specific requirements.
Benefits of Prenatal Care Schedule
Prenatal care is of utmost importance for both the expectant mother and the developing baby. Infants born to mothers who do not receive prenatal care or receive irregular care are more likely to have a low birth weight.
By accurately following the prenatal care schedule, healthcare professionals are afforded the opportunity to monitor the expectant mother regularly. Regular checkups facilitate the early detection of potential issues, enabling preventive measures to be taken, thereby promoting the healthiest possible pregnancy.
