If you are planning to list desktops, laptops, servers or other computer products or accessories on Amazon India, then using an excel template provided by Amazon is the easiest and time-saving solution.
Follow the below mentioned simple steps to download the excel file from Amazon India Website.
Click add a product via upload under inventory tab after logging into your Amazon India seller account. You will see the add product page as shown in the image below.
Steps to download the inventory file for the desktop category are as follows:
Check your download folder for an excel template. For reference, we have downloaded an excel template with name “All in one PCs”. Refer above image.
The downloaded excel template will consist of the following worksheets:
Instructions, Images, Example, Data Definitions, Template and Valid Values. Wherein the “Template” tab is to be filled with the product details and the rest act as a guide to help & understand various attributes.
There are total 10 sections in the “Computers & Accessories” Inventory Upload Excel Template:
We have created an easy explanatory guide for the valid values to be filled in these sections. Important fields are defined here to help you to get an idea about the attributes that are to be filled with product details.
Product Type: Write any of these values; laptop, desktop, minicomputer or all in one PC.
Seller SKU: Stock keeping unit (SKU) is a unique product number given by sellers to distinguish or match with their inventory. Values can be Comp_001, Lap_01 etc or any alphanumeric one.
Brand Name: Write the desktop, laptop or all in one computer brand name. Values can be Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Dell etc.
Item Title: Amazon provides 100 characters to write the product title. Write the best one so that it gets reflected in the search results by your buyers.
Manufacturer: Write the name of the manufacturer. It can be Lenovo, HP, Toshiba, Dell etc.
RAM Size: Write random access memory size here. Values can be 4, 6, 8, 10 etc.
Computer Memory Size Unit of Measure: The RAM size unit of measure will be GB, KB, MB, TB or Bytes.
Processor Brand & Speed: Write the brand name of the processor, values can be AMD, IBM, Intel, Motorola, Transmeta or VIA. The speed value must be numerical for example 1.80.
Computer CPU Speed Unit of Measure: The CPU speed unit must be GHz, MHz or KHz.
Processor Type: Refer details on your product packing for processor type. Value can be Athlon, Celeron, Corei3, AMD series, Intel Core, Pentium, etc.
Hardware Platform: Write the name of the brand that has configured the hardware. Value can be Linux, Mac, Windows, etc.
Hard Drive Size: Refer product details for hard disk size. Values can be 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, etc.
Hard Drive Interface: Possible values can be ata, ata100, ata133, ata_2, ata_3, ata_4, etc.
Computer Memory Type: Write the system ram type. Values can be ddr2_sdram, ddr3_sdram, ddr_dram, ddr_sdram etc.
Operating System: Write the OS of the computer here. Values can be Linux, Windows 2000, Mac OS, Unix, DOS, Windows XP Professional Edition, etc.
Warranty: Write the manufacturer warranty period. Value can be 1, 2, 3 years.
Hard_disk_size_unit_of_measure: The hard disk size unit of measure will be GB, KB, MB, TB or Bytes.
Standard Price: Write the price of the product that you wish to offer for sale. Not the MRP.
Quantity: Write the quantity you wish to sell. Values can be in a whole number.
Shipping-Template: Write the name of shipping template if you have created one or else write migrated template here.
Maximum Retail Price: Write the MRP of your product. This is not the selling price.
Main image URL: Amazon India allows 12 product images in a product listing out of which this will be the main image. Post the URL of the main product image here.
Insert the URLs of your product images other than the main images here. Best practice is to upload all product images on Google drive any such cloud platform and copy their links to paste it into the excel template. Use high definition images to attract more buyers.
If you are listing different color, size, material or accessory of the main product then you will have to add values in variation attributes or else leave blank.
Update Delete: Select option from the drop-down list. If you are listing a new product then select “Update”. If updating existing product then select “Partial Update”. When you want to delete a product select “Delete”.
Product ID: Write any valid GCID, UPC or EAN. Values can be alphanumeric.
Product ID Type: Select anyone from GCID, UPC, EAN, ASIN or ISBN based on product ID.
Description: Amazon gives you 2000 character space to describe your product excluding special characters.
RecommendedBrowseNode1 – RecommendedBrowseNode2: Refer valid values tab in your downloaded excel template. You will see recommended browse node here.
Manufacturer Part Number: Refer product details for a unique alphanumeric number provided by the manufacturer.
Model Number: Refer the product details again for specific model number given by the manufacturer.
The discovery section has 2 main attributes: bullet points and the search terms. Each has 5 spaces.
Bullet points: Write 5 key product features in the bullet point columns. Don’t be descriptive; be short and to the point.
Search terms: These are words that your buyer will type and search for a product of yours or a similar one on Amazon India website. Search terms help your products to rank in Amazon product search results.
Product enrichment has mainly 2 attributes say color and size. It is not applicable for Computers & Accessories Category. Leave this empty.
Shipping weight: Write the final weight of your product after packing in numerical values only.
Shipping weight unit of measure: Select GR, KG, OZ or LB here.
Item Length, Width & Height: Write the product length, width & height without product packing in numerical values only.
Item weight: Write actual item weight without packing materials in numerical values only.
Item weight unit of measure: Select GR, KG, OZ or LB here.
Item dimensions unit of measure: Select values from CM, FT, IN, M, MM here.
Fulfillment center comes only when you are selling your products through Amazon India FBA program. If you do not sell through FBA then leave this section empty.
Fulfillment center ID: Select Amazon_IN or Default here.
Package Height, Width & Length: Write the final product height, width & length including the packing materials in numerical values only.
Package weight: Write actual package weight with packing materials in numerical values only.
Package weight unit of measure: Select GR, KG, OZ or LB here.
Package dimensions unit of measure: Select values from CM, FT, IN, M, MM here.
Compliance mainly integrates battery information columns. If your computer has batteries than you need to put in info like the number of batteries, type, size, watt-hours per battery, battery composition, weight, legal disclaimer with relevant warnings as per applicable dangerous goods regulations.
A seller also needs to fill in appropriate HSN code under compliance as per GST law applicable to the product that is being listed on Amazon India.
If your product doesn’t run on batteries then leave the battery info blank and fill other details relevant to the product and move on. Check the valid value tab in the excel worksheet for specific info regarding compliance columns.
Item condition: Values here can be New, Club, Collectible, Refurbished, Used, etc.
Condition note: If item condition is not “New” then describe the condition here in brief.
Max order quantity: Number of items a buyer can order at a time. It can be 2, 3, 4, etc.
Sale price: If you want to run a sale on your Amazon India store then only write this price. This price must be low compared to MRP and selling price.
Sale start date & end date: Select a time frame of your sale with a start and end date.
Handling time: Number of days that you need to pick, pack and ship a product after an order is made. Values can be 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. depending upon on the product type.
Max aggregate ship quantity: Number of items you want to sell and ship at a time in single order per buyer.
Product tax code: Enter the product tax code given by Amazon India.
Once you complete filling the data, you need to check and upload the file on Amazon Portal. Follows below steps to check and upload the file.
The template file has to be uploaded on the same page where you downloaded it. But before final upload, Amazon helps you with a quick check on your excel file with errors and warnings if any.
Use the check your file option. If there are any errors rectify them and upload it again to check. Once the excel template for your product is error free submit the same to Amazon India using upload file option.
This excel template can also be used to upload products for laptops, servers and other computer accessories category. Adding new products consistently to your inventory is the best practice to rank in Amazon India search results but your product listings should be cleverly optimized in order to attract a fair amount of sales.
