VALUE function converts a text value that represents a number to a number. It converts the text that appears in a recognized formats like a number, date, or time format into a numeric value.
The VALUE function is an inbuilt function in Excel under the category of String/Text Function. As a worksheet function, you can enter this as part of a formula in a cell of a worksheet.
Syntax for VALUE Function
=VALUE(text)
Arguments
Text: The text enclosed in quotation marks or a reference to a cell containing the text you want to convert.
The text value to convert to a number is entered in arguments. If the text is not a number, the VALUE function returns #VALUE! error.
