EOMONTH Function calculates the last day of the month after adding a specific number of months to a given date. The result is returned as a serial date.
This function is an inbuilt function in Excel and is categorized as a Date/Time Function. As a worksheet function, the EOMONTH function can be entered as part of a formula.
Syntax for the EOMONTH Function
=EOMONTH (start_date, months)
Arguments
start_date: A date that represents the start date in a valid Excel serial number format.
months: The number of months before or after start_date.

If you receive a #NAME? error while using the EOMONTH function, install and load the Analysis ToolPak add-in. To activate Analysis ToolPak follow the below steps:
- Choose Add-Ins from the Tools menu. Excel displays the Add-Ins dialog box.
- Make sure the Analysis Toolpak check box is selected.
- Click on OK.
Note: While giving the start_date to the function, you must enter either a reference to a cell containing a date or a date returned from another function or formula.
If you input the date arguments as text, the interpretation of the date might differ. It is dependent on the date system and date interpretation settings of your computer.
