Contents of Social Media Content Calendar Excel Template

This template consists of 26 sheets:

1. Date-wise Monthly Social Media Content Calendar (12 Sheet, Jan – Dec)
2. Social Media Content Annual Summary
3. Social Media Content Checklist (12 Sheet, Jan – Dec)
4. Printable Social Media Checklist.

Date-wise Monthly Social Media Content Calendar

All 12 sheets consist of a similar layout. At the top, you have a monthly summary of the number of posts made on each social media platform.

Using COUNTIF Function the summary will calculate the number of posts made on that particular platform during the month.

It consists of the following 9 social media platforms:

• Facebook
• Twitter
• Instagram
• YouTube
• Pinterest
• LinkedIn
• Quora
• Reddit
• SnapChat

Followed by the Monthly Summary, the template consists of a date-wise content planner. As you insert date in the first light blue column it will automatically fetch the Month using the TEXT Function. Day Column will also auto-populate using the TEXT Function.

Insert post numbers according to your needs. Select the platform from the drop-down list. If you are engaged on fewer social platforms, then leave it blank.

There are 5 columns for types of content; Topic, Images, Copy, and Link. Clicks you can monitor at the end of the day. Enter the relevant information in each column.

Select the social media platform on which you want to post. if you select facebook twice then it will count it twice. Similarly, if you have more posts on the same platform then select it multiple times.

Social Media Content Annual Summary

The annual summary of each month is displayed automatically on this sheet. It displays monthly posts made on each platform and also the total posts made during the year.

Social Media Content Checklist

Once you make the calendar, you need to ensure that the plan gets executed properly. For this purpose, we have created a date-wise checklist.

The platform you select on Calendar will automatically be displayed in the respective month. Hence, you will have the same replica of selected social media platforms on this sheet.

Check the box with a tick mark for whichever task you complete. This is how you can monitor the execution of tasks you have designed in your social media calendar.

Insert the first date and it will automatically fetch the remaining dates of the month along with its respective day. It will also fetch the month from the date using the TEXT Function.

Things To Keep In Mind While Designing Social Media Content Calendar

• Perform Social Media Platform Audit. What platform you are using, which works best, which platform has the most engagement, etc.
• Content Audit is also necessary. Post different types of content to know which type of content works the most and have better engagement. Textual works more on twitter, images on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
• Understand your audience. What they want, what type of content is more shared, liked and commented.
• By posting at different times, find the best time to post your content when your respective audience is available to respond.
• Mix and match all types of content. Put variations of text, images, links, etc.
• Share content that adds value.
• Don’t post the same content multiple times. Keep a track record of posted content using this template to avoid duplicate content
• Pre-define a process by discussing it with your team. Convey the defined process to your team members so that there is no confusion. Follow a pattern.
• Always try to be at least 1 week before your schedule. Prepare in advance.
