PRODUCT function returns the product (multiplication) of a supplied set of numerical values. In other words, it multiplies all the numbers given as arguments and returns the product.

The PRODUCT function is an inbuilt function in Excel. It falls under the category of Math/Trig Functions.

It is used as a worksheet function. As a worksheet function, you can enter the PRODUCT function as part of a formula in a cell of a worksheet.

Syntax of PRODUCT Function

=PRODUCT(number1, [number2], …)

Arguments

Number1: The first number or range that you want to multiply.

Number 2: Additional numbers or ranges that you want to multiply, up to a maximum of 255 arguments.

This function is useful when you need to multiply many cells together. The PRODUCT function treats a blank cell as the value of 1 and not 0.

If a range of cells or an array that contains a blank cell is multiplied then there can be errors. In such case, you will have to ensure that no cell referenced in a PRODUCT function is allowed to be left blank.
