GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 Due Dates Extended

Taxpayers felt relief as on Monday the government announced that the due dates extended for filing GSTR-1, 2 and 3 for the month of July and August.

Businesses now have more time for filing GSTR-1 (outward/sales), GSTR-2 (inward/purchase) and GSTR-2 (payment of taxes) for the months of July and August are extended.

GSTR-1 for July 2017 can now be filed by 10th September instead of 5th September.

GSTR-2 can now be filed by 25th September instead of 10th September.

GSTR-3 can now be filed by 30th September instead of 15th September.

The government said in a tweet yesterday that “GST Implementation Committee (GIC) decides to extend the date of GSTR 1, GSTR 2 and GSTR 3 for the month of July to 10th, 25th and 30th September 2017, respectively.”

Similarly for the month of August 2017 have also been extended. Dates for filing GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3 for August will now be 5th October, 10th October, and 15th October respectively.

Earlier these dates were 20th September, 25th September and 30th September.

The government declared that the initial amount collected against form GSTR-3B was Rs 92,283 crore for July. This amount was 60%-65% of the total taxpayer base.

Earlier, the CBEC waived the late fee for the delayed filing of GSTR-3B.

Additionally, those who have not filed their GSTR-3B can file the GSTR-1, GSTR-2, and GSTR-3 and pay their taxes.
