How To Use: RECEIVED Function

RECEIVED function will calculate the amount of maturity received on an invested security. In simple words, it returns the amount of money received for an investment upon maturity.

The RECEIVED Function is an inbuilt function in Excel. You can find it under Financial Functions.

As a worksheet Function, you can use this function as a part of the formula in the cell.

You can use the RECEIVED function to easily calculate the value of your invest on maturity.

Generally, this function is used for fully secured investment options like Treasury bills, National Bonds etc issued by any government.

Syntax for RECEIVED Function

=RECEIVED(settlement, maturity, investment, discount, [basis])

Arguments

Settlement: Settlement Date of the investment.

Maturity: Maturity Date on an Investment.

Investment: Invested Amount.

Discount: Discount rate of the investment.

Basis: The type of day count basis for an investment. It can be any of the following:

0 or omitted = US (NASD) 30/360 days.
1 = Actual/actual.
2 = Actual/360 days.
3 = Actual/365 days.
4 = European 30/360.

Errors

#NUM! error occurs when supplied investment or the supplied discount argument is ≤ 0, the [basis] argument is supplied and is not equal to 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 and also when the supplied maturity date is ≤ the supplied settlement date.

#VALUE! error occurs when the supplied settlement or maturity arguments are not a valid excel dates and also when the supplied arguments are non-numeric.

#NAME? error occurs when Analysis ToolPak add-in is not enabled in your Excel.
